This was our first truly International episode of Studio Jams, and officially became one of our “Special Edition” episodes. Actually, it is quite a bit different in concept from a typical Studio Jams episode. Rather than bring musicians into a recording studio and watch them create fresh new music on the spot – as we usually do – this episode brought us to Stockholm, Sweden to cover highlights of the 2007 Stockholm Jazz Festival, where we took the opportunity to expose ourselves (and introduce our fans) to a number of different International musicians who were appearing there. You get a chance to learn a little about them through brief interview and performance segments.

The following artists are profiled in this episode:

Andreas Pettersson / guitarist
(very fluid, with wonderful technique)

Eric Gadd / guitarist and vocalist
(a mix of pop and R&B; a nice bit of
European blue-eyed soul)

Martin Tingvall / pianist
(a contemporary, yet traditional jazz artist)

Viktoria Tolstoy / vocalist
(a smooth, melodic singer who can comfortably scat as well)

Ludvig Berghe / pianist
(traditional jazz)

As far as festivals go, The Stockholm Jazz Festival is one of Europe’s best. It is extremely well organized and always features a diverse lineup of International musicians, performing on various stages scattered around the city. And what a beautiful city it is. During the 4-day festival, we met a lot of great people…ate a lot of great food, and listened to a ton of great music. It’s one city I definitely plan to visit again!

“I love the show! It’s a rare glimpse into the creative possess of the genius. This is a “Godsend” to those of us who are jazz lovers and fledgling musicians.”
