ARCHIVED CONTENT FOR SEPTEMBER 2012:

MusicLab
An intimate 1-on-1 with a meaningful music maker.

Big & Rich

Big & Rich – This MUSICLAB session goes a little country…with one of the genre’s most influential groups, Big & Rich. Big & Rich is an American country music duo composed of Big Kenny and John Rich, both of whom are songwriters, vocalists and guitarists. Rich was a founding member of the country music band Lonestar and later a solo artist for BNA Records, while Big Kenny was formerly a solo artist on Hollywood Records. Big & Rich’s first studio album was released in 2004. This album produced four straight Top 40 country hits, including the number 11 “Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy),” and collaborations with Cowboy Troy, Gretchen Wilson and Martina McBride. On this segment, they join host and master violinist Tracy Silverman, to both talk music and perform a few of their hits. View Episode

Joe Sample

Oteil Burbidge (piano) – We have decided to include this MUSICLAB session for another month here in the Music Club as there was a technical glitch when we posted it up here last month. So consider this a bonus! As you will see, Oteil is an excellent bassist, with some very interesting insights. He opens the session with a beautiful solo performance of “Amazing Grace.” Once again, our host is contemporary jazz bassist Gerald Veasley. View Episode

“Every time I watch Studio Jams I learn something new. The musicians and musicianship are just top notch. I always try to take what I learn and incorporate it into my playing and into my band rehearsals. It’s nice to hear and see real music being made by REAL musicians.”
