Sonny Landreth

Sonny Landreth (guitarist) – This MUSICLAB session features the great Sonny Landreth. Landreth is an American blues musician from southwest Louisiana who is especially known as a master of the electric slide guitar. Landreth developed a technique where he also frets notes and plays chords and chord fragments behind the slide while he plays. He plays with the slide on his little finger, so that his other fingers have more room to fret behind the slide. He’s also known for his right-hand technique, which involves tapping, slapping and picking strings, using all of his fingers on his right hand. Here, he both talks about and demonstrates his craft with our host, bassist Gerald Veasley.View Episode

“Studio Jams is, if not the best, certainly one of the best shows on television. It’s great to see how different people from different styles of music get together to make fantastic music. Thanks for the passion, inspiration, imagination, and the experience.”
