On this segment, he joins bassist Gerald Veasley to discuss playing “ragtime” piano. MusicLab was recorded at World Café Live, a terrific intimate live performance venue in Philadelphia, PA (USA). Since the early 1980s, he has enjoyed a successful solo career and has been featured on many recordings by other performers and groups, including Miles Davis, George Benson, B.B. Larry Hoppen (guitar, vocals) Larry Hoppen is a co-founder and “the voice” of the classic American band Orleans. Tens of millions know Larry’s uplifting tenor from the hits Still the One, Dance With Me, Spring Fever and Love Takes Time. Larry is a tremendously gifted musician – equally at home on keyboards or guitar and is fluent on bass, melodica and trumpet. He’s performed and/or recorded with Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Livingston Taylor, Lulu, Graham Parker, Blues Traveler, Ricky Skaggs, Steve Wariner, Michael Franks, Levon Helm, Michael Brecker, Chet Atkins, John Sebastian and Bela Fleck, among others. Chris Rodriguez (guitar) Chris Rodriguez was born on March 7, 1960, in New York, and eventually moved to Nashville, TN becoming a veteran of the scene in the early 1990’s. His debut album, Beggar’s Paradise, was released by Sony in 1999, by which time he had collaborated on projects with a number of country and Contemporary Christian Music acts, including Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Wynonna Judd and Shania Twain. He continues to work as a first-call studio musician with other artists on the Nashville scene, such as Kenny Rogers, Kenny Loggins and LeAnn Womack. Chris has also toured extensively with Keith Urban, Michael McDonald, Leann Rimes and Faith Hill. In this video, Chris joins bassist Rick Cua to talk a little about playing funky rhythm guitar. “Patricia (With All My Love)” (5:43) This song was recorded on November 1, 2007 at Star City Recording in Bethlehem, PA (USA), as we taped Episode #37 of Studio Jams. It features Curtis Harmon on drums, Bennie Sims on bass, Gerard Gibbs on keyboards, Cliff Starkey on keyboards and Greg Riley on saxophone. This was an excellent take on an song co-written by drummer Harmon and bassist Sims.

“King Of The Road” (5:30) This track was recorded on March 23, 2007 at Star City Recording in Bethlehem, PA (USA) as we taped a couple of different episodes of Studio Jams. It features the great Chuck Loeb on guitar, Gerald Veasley on bass, Rayford Griffin on drums, Chris Farr on saxophone and Ray Vega on trumpet. It has yet to appear on any particular Studio Jams episode.
